Green light for City's 1 Undershaft
1st December
The City of London has the green light to the City of London’s second tallest tower, 1 Undershaft.
The building, renamed the Trellis, will have a total height of 304.9 m, making it the second tallest building in Western Europe after the Shard.
It is being developed by Singapore-based Aroland Holdings.
It was approved at the City of London Corporation’s Planning and Transportation Committee following a vote of 19-2 to back the project.
Demolition of the existing Aviva Tower will make way for the development of a 73-storey building.
The tower will provide 130,000 sq m of office space as well as more than 2,000 sq m for retail.
An estimated 10,000 workers will work in the building upon completion.
